How to Insert a Photo Using Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing software. If you want to add a photo to your holiday greeting card to enhance the look and feel of your message, you can insert a photo using InDesign.

How to Locate an Image

1. Step 1

   
   

   Click the PLACE option from the File menu.

2. Step 2

   
   

   Click the drop-down arrow in the Look In field. Find the destination folder of your photo.

3. Step 3

   
   

   Select IMAGES from the Files of Type field.

4. Step 4

   
   

   Click the image you want to insert into the document only once. Preview the image that appears at the bottom of the window.

   Remove the SHOW IMPORT OPTIONS checkmark. Remove the REPLACE SELECTED ITEM checkmark.

6. Step 6

   
   

   Click OPEN to close the Place window.

How to Place the Image in a Document

   Click the mouse button to place the image on the document page. The photo now appears as a linked image in its original form.

8. Step 2

   
   

   Activate the SELECTION TOOL in the Tools box. Click and drag the photo to the appropriate place in the document.
